I think this function was available back in 5.6.x file manager that you can select multiple files, and edit properties of those files all at once,
It seems that 5.7.x didn't have this function available and somehow forgotten to implement it.

You can already do this. The only thing you can't bulk edit is the basic properties like the built-in tags, description and name:
