This is a Creole document
The Nova Dashboard Barclamp installs and configures the Openstack Horizon project. This was once known as nova_dashboard. The dashboard is a UI interface to all the other components.
The Nova Dashboard requires a keystone instance. It can be optionally configured to use a MySQL instance for storing its data.
More information can be found here: http://horizon.openstack.org/#.
The Nova Dashboard Barclamp provides a single role: nova_dashboard-server. This role installs and configures the Nova Dashboard server.
The barclamp provides a single nova_dashboard cookbook. The cookbook handles installation and configuration of the dashboard.
The barclamp has the following parameters:
Name | Default | Description |
keystone_instance | String name of the proposal | Instance of the Keystone barclamp to use |
sql_engine | mysql or sqlite | MySQL uses the instance specified in mysql_instance. If no MySQL is present, it will default to a local sqlite database |
mysql_instance | String name of the proposal | Instance of the MySQL barclamp to use |
show_swift | false or true | Tells Dashboard to show swift components. Defaults to false unless a swift proposal is detected. |
The Nova Dashboard provides a UI on port 80 of the nova_dashboard-server. Using the keystone credentials, you can access the system.
The UI is very useful for managing the other services.
There are a few problems.
- The dashboard doesn't maintain SQL connections to pieces so pages sometimes fail. You need to retry pages a couple of times.
- The VNC proxy for VMs only works on firefox.
