Basic how-to: >>> import publish2 >>> p2 = publish2.get_for_journalist("Ryan Sholin") # fetches your 100 latest links >>> my_links = p2.items # the actual links >>> my_links[0].title # each item has a title, link, publication_name, publication_date, created_date, tags, description, some other stuff # filter your feed >>> p2 = publish2.get_for_journalist("Chris Amico", topic="politics") # not case sensative, will be slugified >>> p2 = publish2.get_for_newsgroup("NewsHour", topic="Barack Obama") # or just get any feed >>> p2 = publish2.get_feed("http://www.publish2.com/recent") # this is buggy. Add .rss or .json for better results Feed attributes: - 'description': "Publish2 Chris Amico's Link Journalism JSON Feed From Publish2" - 'feedlink': 'http://www.publish2.com/journalists/chris-amico/links.js' - 'generator': 'Powered by Publish2' - 'items': # list of publish2.Publish2Link, see below - 'modified': 'Sun, 27 Sep 2009 13:47:41 -0400' # need to parse this - 'sitelink': 'http://www.publish2.com' - 'title': "Chris Amico's links" Item attributes: - 'publication_name': 'Washington Post' - 'description': 'Shorter version: The Post is still figuring out how human its people can be online.' - 'title': 'Ombudsman Blog: Post Editor Ends Tweets as New Guidelines Are Issued' - 'tags': [<Publish2Tag: twitter>, <Publish2Tag: Media & Journalism>, <Publish2Tag: bias>, <Publish2Tag: social media>, <Publish2Tag: Washington Post>] - 'link': 'http://voices.washingtonpost.com/ombudsman-blog/2009/09/post_editor_ends_tweets_as_new.html?wprss=ombudsman-blog' - 'journalist_full_name': 'Chris Amico' - 'created_date': 'September 27, 2009 at 1:21PM EDT' - 'publication_date': datetime.datetime(2009, 9, 27, 0, 0) - 'journalist_profile': 'http://www.publish2.com/journalists/chris-amico' Tag attributes: - 'type': 'standard' # choices are 'standard' or 'custom' - 'link': 'http://www.publish2.com/journalists/chris-amico/links/Media-Journalism' - 'name': 'Media & Journalism' TODO: - Fix date parsing on 'created_date': September 27, 2009 at 1:21PM EDT. This should come out as a Python datetime object, but timezones are a problem. - Sort by time (today, this week, this month, this year) and by rank, as Publish2 does now.
About
