This repo holds information that is useful for faculty and students wanting to get involved with Mozilla DevTools. Some of the information will be specific to Accessibility aspects of Mozilla Dev Tools. It forms the foundation for a community of people in academia who want to get started.

Getting Started

Files (in order of likely usage):

  1. Read Me - This document.
  2. DevTools Overview - This file holds general information about DevTools include links to the DevTools repo, communication channels, etc.
  3. Introduction to Using the Debugger - Step-by-step instructions for using the debugger to debug a small example that includes an HTML file and a JavaScript file.
  4. DevTools Getting Started - This file holds information for getting started with Accessibility aspects of Dev Tools. It documents how to install the dev environment as well as containing links to pertinent info.
  5. Making a Change to the Debugger - Instructions on making a simple change to debugger code and seeing the effect.
  6. Steps to Solving a Bug - This file holds instructions for how to approach a bug or enhancement once one has been chosen.

Other Useful Files:

Debugger - Contains some hints on installing the Debugger.

Sample Getting Started Conversation - This file holds the Slack conversation that Heidi Ellis had with Gabriel Luong when she first approached the Mozilla Dev Tools community. Simply shows how that sort of communication might look.
