Liability¶ ↑

Is an asset packaging library for Rack applications. It works like this: first, set up your assets:

require 'liability'

Liability.configure do
  package "app.js" do
    pre_process :coffee_script
    post_process :jsmin
    source "../app/scripts"
    files "jquery.js", "jquery.ui.js", "application.coffee"
  end

  package "app.css" do
    pre_process :sass
    # custom processing with a proc
    post_process { |file| "/* Copyright 2010 Elabs */\n" + file.read }
    glob "../app/stylesheets/*{.css,.sass,.scss}"
  end
end

you can then use it as rack middleware in your application:

use Liability

Packages are now accessible at ‘/liability/:package_name`, for example `/liability/app.js`. You can get the URL to any package by doing:

Liability.package_url("app.js")

This is the preferred way, since it will add a timestamp to the URL so cache expiry happens.

Rails 3¶ ↑

Just add this to your Gemfile:

gem "liability", :require => "liability/rails"

This will add the middleware and also load the file ‘config/liability.rb`, use that file to setup your packages.
