This allows you to do something like:
blah = "hello"
=> "hello"
blah2 = blah.vi
You add "some crap " to the beginning, using vi
=> "some crap Hello"
blah
=> "Hello"
blah2
=> "some crap Hello"
blah.vi!
Now add "Oh, " to the beginning
=> "Oh, Hello"
blah
=> "Oh, Hello"
