To use this code you have to edit your openssl.cnf file (look in
/etc/pki/tls/openssl.cnf or /usr/share/ssl/openssl.cnf).

the defaults section (the top bit, before and named sections) should have
   SAN = "" san = $ENV::SAN
and the usr_cert section should have
   subjectAltName=$san
