Dataset

The data used for the analysis are:

• “youngercohort.dta”

This file contains data on children in the younger cohort (1-years old in 2009). Panel data with four waves collected in 2009, 2010, 2013, and 2016. The data contains information about demographic characteristics, household characteristics, child development measures, and test scores in primary school.

• “oldercohort.dta”

This file contains data on children in the older cohort (4-years old in 2009). Panel data with three waves collected in 2009, 2010, and 2013. The data contains information about demographic characteristics, household characteristics, child development measures, and test scores in primary school.

The raw data sets from which these dta files were constructed can be accessed here: 2009, 2010, 2013, and 2016.

Code

The results in the paper can be replicated using the following codes:

• “impact_1yocohort.do”

This file contains code to produce tables and figures in the paper on the younger cohort.

• "impact_4yocohort.do"

This file contains code to produce tables and figures in the paper on the older cohort.

• "impact_comparisontrend.do"

This file contains code to produce tables in the paper contrasting the results of the two cohorts.
