Introduction

“The Stream” stands for the next generation personal message stream. It evolved from what formerly was known as the inbox or from concepts like one inbox in email or other communication aggregating frontends. The same is true for RSS readers like googles. Facebook and twitter as well as other social networks then developed the first social stream and added some optimizations.

On this page the outcome of osw group list discussions concerning need and potential concepts for solutions for a next generation of The Stream shall be maintained for overview.

Early thoughts for seeding the discussion is provided.

The written needs nor approaches are by now means binding to the osw developer community. The planned features are rather maintained in the Roadmap.

Needs

  • rapid filtering
  • a user shall have the freedom to use the frontend at will
  • a common defaulting shall be provided
  • defaulted filtering should be deleteable and reinstateable (deleted filters can be called back by the user)
  • the main filter shall intelligently provide really important news from the users network

Approach

  • Filters are saved semantic searches
  • Your personal main filters can be accessed through logic icons
  • On first login of a user default filters are provided
  • the main filter shall provide important data through using Open Rank
