I'm not sure what the best way to do it is, but either way would work for me. I've got a similar patch landing this week, so this feature will be in soon; don't worry about revamping this patch. Thanks for the idea and the implementation =)

What do you think about adding a small comment on line 252 indicating that this is the default in VIM? Why we're treating CTRL+[ as escape was a little unclear.

This doesn't appear to work on Mac. It's treating CMD+[ as ESC which I think is incorrect; it should be CTRL on both platforms. Currently CMD+[ is passed through to the browser and is interpreted as "go back one page".
