Hi Matt,

  1. Yup, that's standard practice. Cucumber uses a regex to parse those statements and do variable assignment with those numbers. We need to give concrete numbers to Cucumber so that it can test the behavior. I guess it's a leap of faith of sorts because you're testing the behavior there by induction somewhat, but in general it turns out fine, especially for the integration testing for which Cucumber is designed. As necessary, we can always add various corner cases to the unit tests for the incrementing.
