Initially based on ryan-roemer/sphinx-bootstrap-theme#92, but instead of subclassing docutils, I subclassed directly sphinx's HTML5Translator, and for now only overriding admonition (to map to bootstrap alerts) and table (to add the "table" class and remove "docutils" and "align-default" classes)
