Outrageous

Outrageous is a ruby wrapper in the form of an outrageous gem for the official League of Legends API.

Gems are truly, truly, truly outrageous...

This library doesn't actually know anything about the League of Legends API. Instead it relies on users to read the League of Legends API Documentation and builds Ruby data structures (i.e. nested Hash and Array combos). The transformation is quite simple; once you understand how the mapping works any League of Legends API request can easily be written as a Ruby data structure.

Installation and usage

As usual, you know, don't you? Just type in your console

	gem install outrageous

or place it in your Gemfile

	gem 'outrageous'

Grab yout API key from here and now you are ready to use your Ruby for vigor. Example usage:

	# region is optional, by default it uses 'euw'
	client = Outrageous::Champion.new(api_key: 'your-truly-truly-truly-outrageous-api-key', region: 'euw')
	client.all(freeToPlay: true)
	client.response # => Hash
	client.status # => 200, 401, 404 ...

API calls

F.A.Q

  • The API version has changed, you haven't updated the gem, what now? By default, Outrageous loads the last API version. If you need to change it, pass the attribute version: 'vX.X' when initializing.
  • Why initialize an object with each request? I just wanted this gem to be multiuser, so it doesn't have to be globally initialized.
  • Responses in a hash looks ugly to me, why don't instantiate a ruby object? Maybe because I'm a bit lazy. Nah, just kidding (not really), I've been using several APIs and I really think that this system takes less maintainace and prevents the gem from being broken when the api is updated.
  • How do I access/find the attribute X from the Y resource? What options can I pass to the Z method? ANSWER OR DIE FAGGOT Please, read the API official documentation, you probably have more knowledge about the API than me.

Final comments

And thats's all, play with this outrageous gem, break it and remember:

THEY CAN'T SAY NO WHEN THEY ARE STUNNED.

Contributing to Outrageous

  • Check out the latest master to make sure the feature hasn't been implemented or the bug hasn't been fixed yet.
  • Check out the issue tracker to make sure someone already hasn't requested it and/or contributed it.
  • Fork the project.
  • Start a feature/bugfix branch.
  • Commit and push until you are happy with your contribution.
  • Make sure to add tests for it. This is important so I don't break it in a future version unintentionally.
  • Please try not to mess with the Rakefile, version, or history. If you want to have your own version, or is otherwise necessary, that is fine, but please isolate to its own commit so I can cherry-pick around it.
