If you run Ubuntu (or Linux in general) to get started visit this excellent guide by blindpet: http://www.htpcguides.com/install-nzbhydra-ubuntu-universal-usenet-searching/

For windows use the latest binary release as described in the readme. Just extract the ZIP somewhere and start NZBHydratray.exe.
