Arch can't stop winning even if it tried to. 😄

That said, personally I would've preferred if they had named the binary either "edit" or "msedit". Before going public we should've had guidelines in place how Linux distributions should call this... The issue of how "edit" conflicts with existing apps was brought up repeatedly internally, but... what can you do. It's marketing. 🥲

Edit: Before merging this, I'll ask internally again if we have consensus on what to call it on Linux.

Package Maintainer: Microsoft did not make any definitive statement as to the preferred name. On the contrary, they opened a poll. I'll keep an eye on it, but as of now, there is no real reason to change the name.

FWIW I think at this point it's almost guaranteed that msedit is going to win. I think it's fine if we wait a little longer though. I would also be very happy to get feedback from actual package maintainers as I never was one.

We now have 200 votes and msedit has more than twice the number of votes of ms-edit. On person in particular said:

The reason for not voting for ms-edit is that the - character moves depending on keyboard layout meaning that it can be hard to type sometimes (recovery environments and so on without localised keyboard)

...which I found very convincing.

We now have a link to repology.org similar to other projects. I think we can close this now. We also added an official recommendation for packages to be named msedit as opposed to ms-edit.
