Thanks for your PR. This repository is a read-only mirror of Plan 9 from Bell Labs, so contributions aren't accepted here.

I would suggest to submit PRs to the plan9-contrib (9legacy) repository instead.

Concerning this change, there is a similar patch already available for 9legacy. It hasn't been included in the 9legacy distribution yet, but I may add it in the future. It might be worth comparing your change with mine. In both cases, they would need to be updated to take into account the more recent APE changes done in 9legacy.
