Software Install Notes
The version used for install noted in each case below. The installed version often differs from the versions specified in email...

2012 SP2 | SQL Server, Active Directory Server |
Mostly via https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/keithmayer/2013/06/24/step-by-step-build-a-free-system-center-2012-configuration-manager-sp1-lab-in-the-cloud/ . See full article for specifics
SCCM depends heavily on both ActiveDirectory and SQL Server. These notes cover installing a local SQL server -- we will be using some standalone SQL server for the real production install. Also, I'm sort of assuming that there is an existing ActiveDirectory server that we'll be using.
This was all point-and-click work, via the following steps. Many more details in the link above.
- Create 'SCCM' Resource Group, put all following resources into it.
- Create 'SccmNet' Virtual Network.
- Create "SccmAD' Virtual Machine Win2012R2DC, Small, View properties ensure privateIP = 10.0.0.4 0. Create and attach a new Disk 0. RemoteDesktop into VM 0. Format new Drive 0. Install and Configure 'Active Directory Domain Services' Role, many notes in the "Prerequisites" section of the link above. 0. Yay we have an AD server maybe?
- Set 10.0.0.4 as the Virtual Network's DNS Server
- Create "Sccm01" Virtual Machine, Win2012R2DC, Medium 0. Create and attach a Disk 0. RD into VM 0. Format new Drive 0. Join new AD Network & Reboot 0. RD back into VM with AD using DOMAN\user as user 0. Install a bunch of Server features 0. D/L & Install a bunch of other software
- RD Back into AD node and configure access / Service Users
- Back to SCCM and install SQLServer and ADK
- Install SCCM!!!

2015 | SQL Server |
- Launch Windows 2012 Server
- Download TFS installer https://www.visualstudio.com/tfs/
- Install Basic Server (for now, Full requires a separate SQL server)
- It pretty much configures itself.
This install was easy. This seems like it covers all important bases w.r.t. git projects, and should be a good replacement for github.
Visit http://tfs:8080/tfs/DefaultCollection/_admin
and click "New team project". Select "Agile" and "Git". I called it "TFS-test", this is the name for both the Project and the git repo.
You can also do this in VisualStudio, but don't do that.
I don't understand git in the context of Visual Studio.
- Install chocolatey,
choco install git
git clone http://tfs:8080/tfs/DefaultCollection/_git/TFS-test
- Add, commit, push a README
- Push a new feature branch
This all works...
Sheesh, finally I found this dashboard: http://tfs:8080/tfs/DefaultCollection/TFS-test/_dashboards
Click 'CODE', or browse here: http://tfs:8080/tfs/DefaultCollection/_git/TFS-test
. This is the github-like site.
- Checkout, Commit, Pull, Push, Branches
- Pull requests with review, visual diff, online editor

I can't find a trial version of this to install. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/software-solutions/static-code-analysis-sast/index.html Only the SaaS version of HP Fortify is only available for trial

8g RAM |
Q:: Why do we need this and TFS? Trial: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/software-solutions/quality-center-quality-management/try-now.html
Having trouble installing HP ALM b/c I don't have 8G of avail. memory.

10.5? | SQL Server |
Version 10.5 seems to map to SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor. AKA "Orion", I think. PDF Admin Guide
Current version of NPM is v12. Could only find mention of v10.5, so installed v12.
Install seemed msi based in the end, only clicked 'Next'. Particularly slow.
It works... It runs mostly as a web app, also installs a couple dozen other related programs. Similar to SCCM I'm not sure how to configure/run this after install.

2.5.0.4510 |
AKA "Nipper Studio"
Must register to get a trial download key: https://www.titania.com/user
Typical .exe clickthrough installer, used all defaults. I'm not sure how to use Nipper but it runs just fine.
Version | Requires |

8.5 | SQL Server |
https://www.trustwave.com/Products/Database-Security/AppDetectivePRO/
msi based installer, all defaults used. This one required a reboot in the middle of the installer: run installer, reboot, re-run installer.
Not sure how to use AppDetective but it runs.

9.0.3.2 |
IBM product, much registration required for demo http://www-03.ibm.com/software/products/en/appscan
Long install. Another scanner, runs ok.

AKA Arcsight Data Platform http://www8.hp.com/us/en/software-solutions/siem-data-collection-log-management-platform/index.html
Most of the install files seem like they're for *nix not Windows.
This does not seem like a windows tool http://keremozt.blogspot.com/2015/07/siem-deployment-installing-hp-arcsight-smartconnector-on-windows.html
There does appear to be some windows support via "Smart Connectors", also mentioned in the link above.

6.8.1 |
https://www.tenable.com/products/nessus/select-your-operating-system I was able to 'ignore' some errors during the msi install process. Register for 'home' to get activation code: https://www.tenable.com/products/nessus-home
Runs as a web-app on localhost. Works.
