This is a long-term feature, and I know it probably can't be automated. However, if .gov webmasters could register their open-source repositories with the app, we could then pull all other sorts of stats, like programming language, frameworks, automated test coverage (see what I did there?), etc.

I've actually seen a standard for this, and use it on my personal site:

<link rel="vcs-git" href="https://github.com/konklone/konklone.com" title="blog code" />

Seems git-specific, and I don't know how commonly it's used (I forget where I even found it). And I imagine many sites are not just one single repo. Pretty interesting idea...

There's a solid way that we could integrate human curated standards like this and that is by repurposing the social media registry. It's very light and allows for a simple catalog that anyone with a .gov or .mil email address can update. They call it 'fedsourcing'. It's an elegant and productive model. Happy to discuss more in slack or real life.

p.s. I added this idea to the place where we're tracking ideas for future additions, so I think we can close this issue whenever.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look this will be on our roadmap anytime soon. I've made a note of the idea in the place where we're tracking ideas for future additions (linked above), so am going to close this for now.
