Pre-release

Beta Release 1 - 2023-07-19

This is the first Beta release of Aquarius MX BASIC 2.0. A Beta test is one where users have access to the code for purposes of "free testing" it against their own hardware set-ups. Here are the release files and their descriptions:

  • aqunit.zip - This is an archive file that should be decompressed to either the USB thumbdrive (for hardware testing), or to the USB folder for emulator testing (AquaLite). Each BAS file is a BASIC program that is run to test the MX BASIC 2.0 system. There is also an MD file (text file in Markdown format) that has a battery of manual tests to be performed.
  • AQ_MX_ROM.BIN - This is the 64kb image that gets written to the EPROM on the Aquarius MX or Micro Expander.
  • aqubasic.rom - This file gets placed in the roms folder of AquaLite so that the MX BASIC 2.0 code can be made active when it is in Micro Expander mode.

Reporting Issues

If one of the tests in AQUNIT fails, or if you find odd behavior in your own development, here are the steps to reporting the issue for review:

  1. Check the MX BASIC Documentation to make sure the command or function behaves the way it is documented to work.
  2. Check the MX BASIC Developer Notes to make sure there aren't any special circumstances affecting your error.
  3. Open a ticket on the Issue List, and make sure to tag it for this Beta 1 release.
  4. Fill out the form completely, making sure you include whether you're on an emulator or using real hardware, which SYSROM (S1 or S2) you're using, and whether you have installed a Real Time Clock on your MX.

Good luck!
