CS220AU Digital Portfolio Template (2022)

Overview

How did I create my website?

In order to make my website that met the brief of critically reflecting on connections between digital identities and Existential risks, I followed a number of different steps. I made sure to ensure that I referred to all 3 of the themes which included digital identities, existential risks and critical reflection. I have listed the steps followed to reach my final website below:

  1. Conducted research on Digital Identities as explained by researcher Marc Prensky
  2. I created a Visitor and Resident (V&R) map based off of ideas explored by Marc Prensky, I later went on to relate this to my research question
  3. I created my Github account
  4. I began to conduct research on existential risks, this would help me to come up with a research question that fitted the course brief
  5. I began to explore different ideas for my research question, and used mindmapping apps such as 'simple mind' on my laptop
  6. I formulated my research question and began to brainstorm what I wanted to explore and explain within this queestion
  7. I came up with subheadings I wanted to explore on my website and carried out effective research to ensure these could be answered successfully
  8. I made sure I was updating my to do list throughout as this helped me keep track of what I needed to work on for my website
  9. I ensured that I used images, videos and text to make my website more appealing for the audience 10.I ensured that I both self and peer assessed my website.

My V&R Map

My V&R Map shows how I used the internet and online platforms to create my website and carry out essential research for my website's research question. The V&R map has been created using the idea put forward by Marc Prensky who claimed that a person was a Visitor online when they leave no trace on social media or online or a resident when a trace was left on social media, through a number of different means such as: commenting on social media or blogging. Prensky's research suggests that we Spend most of our times as visitors on social media. Prensky suggests that the Internet can be as useful tool for conuducting research as it gives us the capability to share ideas online, and to create networks and communities.
