This is because the PiCreatures_plain.svg file is not included in this repo. I speculate this is for copyright reasons as Grant probably wants to keep the trademark face of his channel to himself, which seems fair enough. If you try and export a scene that doesn't have a Pi creature in it you should be fine. For example try exporting SimpleConstrainedBreakdown in hanoi.py or for a really simple example go with OpeningQuote in eoc/chapter1.py.

Another thing is that there is technically a second error in that error message: sh: 1: play: not found. This is because extract_scene.py plays a sound using the play command once it's finished running. It's fine to ignore this error but if you want to hear a sound once the script finishes then install the play command. On debian this is in the sox package (sudo apt-get install sox)

Would be nice to have PiCreatures_plain.svg added since bunch of chapters can not be rendered. Seems #18 can be used for that.

Lack of play I guess that is an OSX command. Comes from helpers.play_chord(), probably the README.md can mentions installing sox when under linux (nice one @sramsay64 ). That is surely an easy fix :]
