from Simple White X:

This update brings corrections needed to support the changes in Firefox Developer Edition 45.0a2 and later:

  • It updates to the latest styles for the Developer Tools. This corrects the column headers in some tools that were misaligned and updates their style on sorted columns. This also brings various style corrections needed for the Animation Inspector. This theme has some minor differences from the default theme, such as the width of the columns in the Network Monitor tool.
  • It restores the use of theme style buttons for Hello and the Tab Groups extension.
  • It has corrections for the panel of the new Sync Tabs button.
  • It restores showing the help button in the Options page, about:preferences. This button has a new style and is moved to the top end of the page. It also has changes to prevent the accidental selection of some options.
  • The changes to the Developer Tools and the Options page are effective on all supported versions of Firefox.
  • This update also has corrections for the Identity Panel, and some are used in Firefox 43. In particular it removes the message "You have not granted this site any special permissions" when it does not apply.
  • The Developer Tools interface is revised to use the style sheets and images from Firefox Nightly 45.0a1 on all versions of Firefox supported by the theme. These revision includes changes for consistency with the appearance of Simple White X.
  • The icons for the categories/sections/tabs in the Add-ons Manager page are in svg format (like in the Options page). Since now they are resolution independent, they will look sharp on screens with resolution over 92 dpi (or if the page zoomed in). The icon for the Dictionaries section is new.
  • The icons in the information page are now icons made for this theme.
  • This version has corrections and fixes to ensure it is ready for upcoming releases of Firefox.

Merging all changes from simple white X

  • This update has an important correction for pop-up (/under) windows in the mac platform affected by issue number 54 in louischan/simplewhite. Thanks to @mbodon for his assistance solving this. This update amends the positioning of the badge in some toolbar buttons (e.g., uBlock₀) to support Firefox 42 and later. It has some layout corrections for the options page, especially in the mac platform. It corrects the network error page for Firefox 44 and later. It adjusts the extensions icons size in the add-ons page.
Unfortunately, it eliminates the support for colored title bars in order to correct issue #11 about double max/min/close buttons in Windows 10. This is very bad because it detracts from the character of the theme. I am researching how to put it back, but it may require to use a separate extension.
This release was changed to set the maximum supported version of Firefox to 45.
  • Sound indicators for the tabs.
  • This update starts the use of the new security indicator icons in Firefox 42 with one exception: if a secure page has only domain verification, the icon is a gray padlock, like for earlier Firefox. Hence the change in design is for pages with mixed security content in Firefox 42 and later. This update makes Firefox Nightly 45.0a1 show the icons in the identity box as Firefox 42 except for changes that upgrade security, e.g., Nightly shows the icon also used for "mixed active content allowed"* to signal that passwords are compromised at times when Firefox 42.0 only signals an insecure connection.
  • This update also removes incorrect messages form the identity panel that were displayed in Nightly and in Developer Edition. If there is an insecure connection that shows a plain gray padlock in the identity panel, the shown padlock is not closed (when the page has "mixed passive content loaded").
  • With this update the developer toolbar (gcli) is no longer fixed to the dark theme, now it will follow the light theme if selected in the developer tools. The update has corrections to the layout of the balloon that may pop-up from this bar. The corrections to the balloon, do not extend to Developer Edition 44.0a2 or Nightly 45.0a1, where it is themed by the default theme.
  • The update has some minor adjustments to the spacing between the elements in the new tab page. It has some more miscellaneous updates with corrections especially for Firefox Nightly 45.0a1. It also has a change for Windows 10 not using the default theme.

Because the original Simple White hasn't been updated in a long time, this compact fork is now based on the actively developed Simple White X.

  • Numerous bug fixes
  • Parting from the original Simple White, the Options page, about:preferences, is revised to resemble the Add-ons Manager page, about:addons.
  • There is a new icon different to the options icon for the Advanced options.
  • The links in Firefox about: pages, e.g., about:addons, will not be underlined unless the pointer is on them.
  • A few more about: pages are revised to make the style more uniform (e.g., the content is shown within a frame with a light gray background).
  • about:privatebrowsing will have a more sober appearance than the default theme in Firefox 42+.
  • The theme is now compatible with rtl locales. Besides general corrections, specific corrections where done for the about:newtab page and also for the about:preferences page. However about:home cannot be corrected with the theme. Those using Stylish may use this style to correct that page until Firefox is patched properly.
The theme supports colored tile bars in Windows 10 thanks to an patch by @lychichem.
The Animations tab in the Inspector module of the Developer Tools is fixed.
