Welcome to the 42 Months After Deer Isle PvEvP wiki!

42 Months After Deer Isle PvEvP Server

About 42 Months After

We are a custom DayZ community who run 3 mod'd PC servers and 2 mod'd console, for Xbox and PlayStation. We pride ourselves on being community driven where all players have a voice in how we shape our particular flavors of DayZ. We aim for more realistic and challenging gameplay, which means we don't use mutants or dinos or anything like that. We want to provide a challenging gameplay experience whether you are into PvP or PvE. Join our community and help shape our world!

What do we mean by "Hard Core"

We aim for a realistic and tough game play experience. That means stronger custom zombies, 100% custom rare animals like bears and wolves, AI patrols and a fully customized loot system that rewards higher risk with high reward. This is not for the faint of heart and will be a challenge for even the most seasoned DayZ player.

What is PvEvP anyway?

Great questions! 80% of the map is PvE, the other 20% is PvP zones. This allows for players to choose how they want to play the game and enables us to support a larger audience base. We try not to have a many rules to keep things as simple as possible, but there are a few around player to player interaction and base build & raiding...

PvE Rules

You are free to explore the map free of fear of being KOS'd as long as you are within PvE zones. We have a "magic bullet" feature that servers the damage to the shooter if someone tries to fire on another player in PvE areas.

PvP Rules

You will know you are within a PvP zone as you will get both a notification and a cross sword icon in your HUD. Anything goes within the PvP zones so be prepared for murder. AI roam the PvP zones so consider yourself warned! First person perspective is forced in PvP zones to avoid wall spying.

Base Building

Each player / group is allowed 1 base at a time. All bases require a territory flag to ensure that your stash won't despawn. Each territory area is 120m in radius. In PvE areas you are free to build anywhere that doesn't block off loot spawn locations, like in military or medical areas. In PvP areas the same rules apply, no blocking off of loot spawn areas like military or medical locations.

Base Raiding

In PvE zones there is no base raiding what so ever. Any secured base with a territory flag can not be raided, even if you are able to gain access. Unsecured bases, stashes or cars in PvE zones are fair game to loot. Secure your stuff! In PvP zones bases can be raided, but ONLY by other players who base in PvP zones. Players who base in PvE zones are NOT allowed to base raid, even if the base is in a PvP zone. Unsecured stashes, tents, bases, etc. are open to looting so secure your stuff!

Loot Economy and Tiers

We are a hard core server and our loot tables represent this mindset. Deer Isle has 18 different loot zones that we have broken down into three tiers of loot based on difficulty and accessibility:

Low Tier

Basic vanilla loot and custom skinned vanilla loot can be found in tier 1 areas. Pistols, shotguns and some single fire rifles are available across these zones:

  • Tier 2 Start Island
  • Tier 3 Main Island (South)
  • Tier 6 Main Island (North)
  • Tier 8 Main Island (East)

Medium Tier

The challenge is up here, so is the loot. Being hard core focused, semi auto rifles and sub machine guns can be found in these zones:

  • Tier 1 Crotch & Barringer Island
  • Tier 4 Paris Island
  • Tier 5 Swamp (RCFI)
  • Tier 11 Powerplant
  • Tier 12 Devils Eye
  • Tier 13 Area 42

High Tier

The only place to find full auto assault rifles, LMGs and high powered sniper rifles are in the toughest, highest AI patrolled areas below:

  • Tier 7 Mt Katahdin (KMUC)
  • Tier 10 The Temple
  • Tier 14 The Artic
  • Tier 16 Barringer Crater
  • Tier 17 Alcatraz
  • Tier 18 Aircraft Carrier

Vehicles & Helis

All vehicles and helis are use at your own risk. DayZ cars are terrible and the maps weren't built for helis so they are 100% use at your own risk. Admins will not replace vehicles lost due to lag, glitching, despawning, you name it. Annoying admins about vehicles will not win you any favors so just don't ask. To protect your vehicle, be sure to put a camonet on it when you aren't using it. This will keep it safe and help with server performance.

Trader and Safe Zone

The Holler is the trader and safe zone on the map. There are multiple different traders who sell different types of goods and an ATM to keep your cash safe. Only specific items can be bought and sold, for example, clothing can not be bought or sold to the trader. Check out the different traders themselves to see what loot items are transactionable and what reputation is needed to purchase each item. Any trader item can be sold regardless of reputation, but reputation scores are needed for purchasing.

How to Make Money

There are different ways to make money on Deer Isle. Rare fish and animal pelts can be sold for bank, weapons and high tier gear can be sold for top dollar, collectibles like Pokemon cards and electronics can be sold for top dollar.

Reputation System

This is a system that awards points to each player as they kill different animals, zombies, players, AI, etc. Look at each item in the trader to see how it is tagged from rare to legendary. The higher the tier, the higher the price, the higher the reputation that is needed. Upon your death, you will lose 1000 reputation points, to play smart and stay alive!

Reps Rewards by Kill Type:

  • AI : 100
  • Animals : 1 - 50 depending on the animal
  • Soilder Zombies (200x strength) : 75
  • Regular Bears : 75
  • NBC Zombies: 25 - 50
  • Zombies : 10
  • Other Players : 250
  • Ghosthound : 100
  • Hellhound : 100
  • White Stag : 150
  • Golden Deer : 125
  • Elder Bear : 200
  • Golden Elder Bear : 250
  • Radioactive Bear (Juggernaut) : 250
  • Radioactive Bear (Beast) : 225
  • Radioactive Bear (Tough) : 200

Trader Rep Tiers:

  • Poor Item Requirement : 100
  • Common Item Requirement : 500
  • Uncommon Item Requirement : 1000
  • Rare Item Requirement : 2000
  • Epic Item Requirement : 4000
  • Legendary Item Requirement : 8000

Special Events

There are two different kind of events on 42 Months After, dynamic and admin hosted:

Dynamic Events

Airdrops happen two times per restart at random locations around the map. Even if an airdrop lands in a PvE zone, it is a PvP event. An indicator will show both in the 2D and 3D map markers. Entering an airdrop area will show a PvP zone notification and the cross sword icon in your HUD. The type of loot will be hidden until you make your way to the drop create.

Admin Hosted Events

Daily stash scavenger hunts, base and town raids, and RP events are held multiple times a month and hosted by our amazing admin team. Check out the #42MA-Radio channel in our Discord for updates.

AI Faction Patrols

There multiple patrols of AI that roam the PvP zones around the map. They will shoot on sight and are ruthless so please be warned. They can be looted for their gear if killed and each PvP location will have different AI factions with backstories and corresponding gear. Here is a break down of their types:

  • Medium Tier Factions:

Any PvP zone that you can walk or drive to (with exception of the Crater which is high tier) will have this tier of AI. Vanilla military gear and full auto weapons will make them formative.

  • High Tier Factions:

Any PvP zone that requires a boat, heli or swim to will have harder, tougher geared AI with custom MVS gear and different high powered weapons. Each zone will have gear that matches the environment. The Artic will have snow gear, the Temple will have jungle camo, the vault at KMUC will have blacked out gear, etc.

Custom Animals and Zombies

To keep the hard core thing going, we have implemented custom zombies and animals across the map, each with their own 100% custom features.

Animals

Radioactive bears, hell hounds, golden deer and white stags are just a few of the rare animals that populate Deer Isle. Each more difficult to kill than the next. They all are random and can spawn in at vanilla spawn locations to tread lightly through the woods in the (very) dark of night! There are also over 40 kinds of fish, both fresh and salt water. Fishing is a great way to make money and catch your dinner. Rare fish and pelts can be sold for top tier cash at the Holler. Check the hunting trader for what items they buy.

Zombies

Our zombies are completely customized and do not mess around. Custom strengths from 30% of vanilla for milk maids and old geezers, to 200% of vanilla for military zombies, you are going to want to know who you are picking a fight with. They will throw rocks at you if you climb to escape them, knock down doors if you try to hide, and swamp you from a distance if they hear you. Consider yourself warned! HARD CORE!

Server Specs

We self host our PC servers and use some of the best hardware we can get our hands on. DayZ server is a single core application and not terribly optimized. When you add in mods and maps made by third parties, server performance can take a massive hit and lag can get rough. For our Deer Isle server we run the following:

  • i9 12900k steadily overclocked to 5.2ghz (water cooled)
  • 64gb 6000mhz DDR5 ram
  • 2x 500gb nvme m.2 hard drives (one for the OS and one for daily system backups)
  • 2 gb duplexed (2gb up and down) internet connection with static IP

All of our hardware, including the modem, are on a battery backup to protect from outages.

We use the CF Tools OmegaManager and CF Cloud to manage the server software to ensure mod updates and server up time. Additionally, we use Process Lasso to affinity map DayZ server to our overclocked P cores for maximum performance.
