I'm currently using my roborock vacuum with the Xiaomi App and HASS integrations. Any insights on benefits of using the Roborock approach?

Depends on the roborock model you have. For instance, for my S6 Maxv you can't use the camera functions in the Mi Home app, only in the Roborock app.

I have an S7 MaxV, that has extra features in the Roborock app...

  • camera view
  • camera view with joystick ("RC car" mode 😝 )
  • use as a phone (communicate trough the vacuum)
  • 3D view of the maps

... and everything is much faster in the Roborock...
