NPE on *nix systems when showing console

Seems to be an issue on *nix systems when showing the console, that a NPE is thrown:

Doesn't occur on Windows at all.

Since this cannot be replicated consistently, I think I found the issue based on just randomly opening and closing the launcher.

Pre the fix I could open and close the launcher and get it to occur at least 20% of the time. With the new fix I can open and close it a bunch of times and no issue, so I think I've found the source of the issue.
