Oh, hey @PilgrimMemoirs ...
So this version of FarMar was SO much better than the first! I worked with Rachel and we first worked together on the main setup of the project. We then split up and I worked on the main views for all vendors, markets as well as views for individual pages. I also made the vendors pages' sales information loops. I spent practically all of Friday trying to make dropdown boxes work, but...yea...

I think our teamwork was really great! Rachel and I both preferred starting off taking things step by step and working together to develop a plan which I think really helped us flow through other things in the long-run. I think we had similar communication and working styles so the project seemed like a breeze!

I'm not sure what didn't go well in our teamwork. I almost wish we had sat down and talked through what we had done in more detail simply because with Rachel doing all the forms and css I feel like I'm not as great on that aspect of things. I could use more practice doing that so perhaps I should've taken on more responsibility there but it seemed like a good idea at the time to breeze through the way that we had been working.

Technical parts that went well (at least for me) were the portions where vendors show the sales. I love that Rails just does most of the work, especially when figuring out sales by a given month. I wanted to also create a dropdown box here so that you could look for a specific month/year combination but...yea...dropdowns...that's my thing that maybe didn't go well. It's still eating me up inside. I'm having traumatic dreams. This might be haunting me. I suppose it wouldn't be FarMar if there wasn't a little bit of trauma. Thanks, FarMar.

  1. On the FarMar project, I worked on the new/create and edit/update methods (including forms, views, and controller), some of the delete methods, as well as the initial CSS layout and styling for the project. I also did some work on the show methods for sales/products.
  2. I really liked that Miriam and I spent the first day working together and pair programming to complete the basic framework. After doing our user stories, we created the models, views and controllers together. We also did all of the routes together. Then later that day (or maybe on the 2nd day), we got back together to sketch out some layouts. I think this set us up in a nice way for completing the rest of the project. I also really liked that we kept our Trello board up to date and both regularly checked in with each other and with the board to see where we were with the project. I thought we both did a nice job of picking projects that personally interested us, especially at first when there were more things to choose from, and then going with those individually. Overall I think it was a great pairing experience and I am proud of what we accomplished together! I liked the balance of pair and individual time on this project a lot.
  3. I honestly am struggling to think of anything specific that I would change next time in terms of teamwork. Maybe talking about our work styles, preferences for teamwork, and preferences for work we want to do on the project right off the bat? I don't think those things impeded our progress at all on this project, because it seemed to happen very naturally, but I could see it being important in future projects, especially when working with a bigger group.
  4. I think that generally things went really smoothly in terms of the actual work on the project. We struggled a bit with a few add-on features at the very end of the project, but those were not required parts of the project anyway. During the beginning of the week, it felt like we had to spend a lot of time branching and merging - it was a struggle! But it helped to see that we weren't the only ones and that was just part of the learning process. I know I want to improve the CSS I write in future projects - I just went with the simplest or easiest solution when writing the CSS, thinking I would come back and refine it to make it more responsive to screen size later, but then before I knew it, the week was over. Next time I just want to start by using em/rem and percentages for everything from the beginning.
