  • MS Outlook cannot establish a connection with the servers provided that AdGuard protection is enabled.
  • Logs are added to NCloud
  • Report from our Forum

Another appeal from the user with such a problem:

  • The issue happened around 6:59 AM Central and again at 7:00 Central;
  • Logs are added to NCloud;
  • HelpDesk ID: 3040176;
  • Information regarding third-party soft is now clarifying.

+1 here, I am on version 2.5.1.928 nightly (CL-1.7.150) and my MS outlook/work email hasn't been working since I upgraded to OS Big Sur. Even if it's excluded from the filtering list still no luck.

Same here. After upgrading to Big Sur Outlook was not able to connect anymore. Other sw functions as expected. I removed and reinstalled AdGuard to no avail. Valid subscription. Only by disabling adguard (slider to off in adguard window) Outlook directly connects to the internet. nothing shows in logs when 'blocked'. Disabling Outlook in Adguard Network appl filtering does not create a solution.
osX Big Sur, newest patch, Adguard 2.5.1.928 release (CL-1.7.150), Outlook 16.44

@ElLudio do you use any other network filtering software in addition to AG? Maybe Little Snitch or something like that?

Yes, if I turn off/disable AG my MS outlook connect to my work exchange just fine so it isn't Little Snitch

@ElLudio Just for the record, Little Snitch lists AdGuard as incompatible software on Big Sur. See https://www.obdev.at/support/littlesnitch/245917253963553

Yes, I saw this link before, I installed Big Sur on a test VM and I still got the same issue using MS outlook. Mail work on my work exchange but I saw other comments about not able to connect to exchange services via mail as well!?
When I was on Catalina I had LS and AG and I had no issues connecting to my work email via MS outlook.

Thanks!

So there's a known bug in the current Big Sur version due to which AdGuard and Little Snitch (and Norton as well) have compatibility issues.

The bug causes exactly this kind of connectivity problems when there are two network extensions registered in the system. Note, that the extensions don't even have to do anything with the connections.

Apple is aware of the issue. We reported it when Big Sur was first released, and I suppose Little Snitch reported it too so I hope we can expect a fix in one of the upcoming Big Sur patches.

Hi Andrey! Thank you for your swift reply! Ok, we'll just have to wait it out then, and have patience with Big Sur a little while longer. Thanks again! You mean Microsoft issue not an Apple issue!?

No, I mean Apple for sure. This is caused by a Big Sur bug.

Could one temporarily uninstall little snitch, Norton, Anyconnect, any other vpn apps, reboot a Mac and check if the issue with Adguard and outlook persists?

I did this before and I was getting the same issue...I have a clean install Big Sur/VM with nothing on it except AG and Office 2019 and I still can't connect to MS exchange via outlook

Hello, I'm another Big Sur/Outlook/Adguard user that cannot use Outlook when Adguard is enabled. I don't use Norton or Little Snitch. When Adguard is turned on, I can't even get work on-premise Exchange, 365 email, or Gmail to set up.

Hi all!

Apple today released BigSur 11.2, which was supposed to solve the issue with Microsoft Outlook. Can you please update and check if the problem persists?

It works at first sight.
And Cisco Anyconnect works as well.

Oh, it does? This is really good news, we only expected Little Snitch compatibility issues to be resolved. Thank you!

Even Adguard, Norton 360 and smb networkshares work together like they always did before Big Sur. Great! (after update to Big Sur 11.2)
