"Plagues of unknown origin, strange phenomena, repeated outbreaks of war: these were enough to cause panic and plunge people into despair. But one smiled as he surveyed the unfolding chaos rending the world asunder. For this 'man,' once slain by the forces of the Tokugawa Shogunate, hate for the Shogunate is all he possesses along with newly acquired dark powers to bring it down. This 'man,' Shiro Tokisada Amakusa, unleashes his unworldly forces and spreads his false creed in an attempt to lead the world to ruin. But in the midst of such calamities, there were still warriors who put their beliefs to the test. These warriors spurred by different motives and beliefs converge as if drawn together, battle, and make their way to the source of the chaos."
Samurai Shodown, known as Samurai Spirits is a fighting game developed and published by SNK for their NeoGeo arcade system. It was released in 1993, in a time of great hits such Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, MOrtal Kombat, Art of Fighting, and many others. Samurai Shodown difered in it's fast paced combat, more focused on speed and timing than hard to chain combos, and in it's setting, which happens in the late 18th century. This game also included a refined version of the camera zoom first found in Art of Fighting, and a weapon system for it's fighters. These feats, combined with it's beautiful graphics (Pixel Art), the Slow Motion that greatly improved the user experience and the espectacularity of each fight, and it's great effects and violence, settled an important saga in videogames history with 11 games that follow the main line, 3 Spin-Offs, and a new game that will come out in 2019
