As far as I can tell, "Advanced Options" really just turns off the Full Parameter Tree, Full Parameter List, and the Terminal. Of those, the full parameter tree and list are VERY commonly referenced to set up new vehicles, even for beginners. Having users find this box to turn on common features isn't justified. Users should have the advanced options by default.
The explanation that I have been given is something along the lines of "we don't want users to be using advanced features and accidentally changing things." I don't buy into this logic for two primary reasons
New users need some of the features here because they need to make parameter changes that aren't in the wizards.
If the option is to hide unnecessary features, then there are a LOT more items that should be hidden when advanced options are not enabled.
This constantly trips up brand new users who can't find the full parameter list. Here's a few examples of the wasted time from users trying to figure it out:
Change the button to be "easy layout" (and have all options enabled by default)
If the button is changed to "easy layout," I think there are a lot more tabs and features that should be hidden. For example, simulation, daflash and tlog viewers, payload control, messages, and Pre-Flight.

If the button is changed to "easy layout," I think there are a lot more tabs and features that should be hidden. For example, simulation, daflash and tlog viewers, payload control, messages, and Pre-Flight.
