Overthrow is designed for co-op play and anyone in small groups. Just you and a buddy is plenty but the real fun starts when there are 4-6 working together.

Starting a co-op game

From the Arma 3 main menu click on "Multiplayer" and then "Server Browser". From the screen that shows you want to "Host Server".

  1. Give your server a name, any will do
  2. Change "LAN" to "Internet"
  3. Select "UPNP"
  4. Give your server a password if you like (or not if you don't care who joins you)
  5. Click "Host server"

From the next screen simply choose the "Overthrow" mission and click "Play".

Once in the game it is easiest to invite your friends via Steam. Press Shift-Tab, find your friend, click the small arrow next to them and "Invite To Game".

Saving

When using the default save in Arma 3, you may find that your UI disappears or the 'Y' key stops working after you load. For this reason we recommend that you use our "persistent save" option. To save your game go to the map in your home and use your mouse scroll wheel to select "Options".

Then click on "persistent save".

Loading

To load a persistent save, you need to restart your "server" and the mission to get the main menu, then just choose "Load Persistent Save". When you are finished playing select "Save & Exit" as you would normally. When you want to continue just host a new server, select the mission and choose "Restart" instead of "Continue".
