Issue on Databricks 5.0 Pulling from Event Hub #424

I tried this against a 4.3 cluster as well with the same scala version, same issue. |
Hi @zpappa, can you provide some details about your producer application? Which client SDK do you use to send events? Do you set a partition key? I assume so, just wanted to confirm. |
@sjkwak It's a node js based producer, a web application. It's utilizing the @azure/event-hubs npm package. I am setting a partition key of -1, as a number. Based on the issue should this be converted to a string based value? |
@zpappa yes, that's the issue. If you put in "-1" you'll be all set. In general, we expect the partitionKey to be a string. Seems that the node.js library should coerce partitionKeys into string types. I opened an issue! Please follow-up if you still have issues :) |
Background
I came across this error trying an almost verbatim copy of the guides posted here to pull data from event hub into databricks:
I am able to write consumers that receive data perfectly fine in stand alone python scripts, but am unable to make the example code work for scala on Databricks using event hub. My event hub has a single partition and a single consumer to make things easy. I am using the event hub interface not kafka. I have one master and one worker thread in my cluster. Sample code minus my user info and the error is inline.
