Container‐based Packaging Solutions Support

There are some container-based solutions for redistributing applications, like Flatpak, Snap and Linglong. Users can use these packages if preferred, and sometimes that might be the only solution (e.g. You are using Steam Deck or some other immutable Linux distros). For convenience, we provide support for container-based packaging solutions as well.

For Pineapple Pictures, if there are both system-native package and container-based package available, we suggest you choose the system-native version for the following reasons:

  1. Faster load/launch time.
  2. Can follow your system theme/appearance (especially on Qt-based DEs).
  3. Can use your system's Qt image format plugins.
