Getting started creating your dream Windows desktop custom menu couldn't be easier.

Download the latest version from the Releases page and unzip CustomMenu to a folder of your choice.

When you run CustomMenu.exe it will display an icon in your system tray and a minimal CustomMenu.ini will be created.

(NB. To get to your normal Windows desktop menu at any time, hold down a CTRL key and Right-Click the desktop)

Right-click anywhere on your desktop and this single menu item will appear:

clickme

Right-click this item to open CustomMenu's config window:

minimalConfig

You may either modify or delete this single menu item:

emptyconfig

If you save the config like this so that the .ini file is empty, a right-click on the desktop will open the config window.

You can add new menu items either by dragging and dropping them onto the tree panel on the left or by clicking the + button to add a new menu item to the tree and then clicking the browse button next to the Command edit box to locate the file to be launched.

TIP: You can select all the shortcuts on your desktop and drop them onto the panel on the left. CustomMenu will create a menu item for each shortcut with the correct icon, parameters and startup directory. Hey Presto! A working menu in seconds.

Dropping executables, for example, onto the menu tree will result in the normal full ("absolute") path to that executable being recorded, including the drive letter. If you wish to have CustomMenu use relative paths, you can hold down a SHIFT key when dropping the file(s) onto the tree. This is useful when creating a custom menu to be run from a USB stick/drive where the drive letter may be different each time the USB stick/drive is inserted.
