Loopback to take a later start in an elapsed time task?

Can a pilot that exits a start cylinder in an elapsed time task loopback to reenter that start cylinder to take a later start, to restart their individual clock?

From the flight tracks, it seems pilots in the 2012 FAI Hang Gliding Pre-World were expecting to be able to restart but FS is taking their first crossing on exit as the start.
