wooden Storage crate problem #1881

Updated mods but didn't woork, but I tried using a hopper to a v chest and that solved the problem |
you can almost only fix this manually! place down a chest and note the coordinates, drop in an empty disk of the same type as the one in the crate download yourself "nbt explorer" or any other "nbt editor", use dinnerbones chunk calculator to get to know of which file the chest is https://dinnerbone.com/minecraft/tools/coordinates/ now search for the chest and view it's content and note down the item ID of the disk now go into your player file to find the disk in your player inventory cut the whole disk portion out and move it over to the chest when you launch the world again the disk in the crate should now appear in the chest you placed down http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/NBT_format << there you can look up how to read the nbt files and where to locate your player file and the correspondig world file (remember, on the server the savegame is located inside an additional folder with the worlds name) PS: NBT world hacking is fun :D and saved myself many worldsaves |
People can make mistake. but you could prevent them, maybe. The crate's content could be saved in world data instead player data, just like Actually Additions does, and load the NBT (send it to the player) only when opening the crate. This would fix those NBT explosion issues. |
you would need an actual block or entitiy in the world to do that or an alternative save game mechanic which is a major pain to implement properly |
Yeah I won't be rewriting the storage crate because of stuff like this. Instead, being sensible with the whole "bags in crates in bags in crates" is one of the few things left up to the users. Don't try to overstack stuff x3 |
just for shits n giggles, can't you serialize the item's NBT isntead of crawling it before putting it in and then cancel the move if it is too big in serialized form? I mean as an easy workaround ... but i can smell people opening issues about items not fitting in the crate under certain circumstances XD

I mean, that crate has been around since the start of IE. Almost 2 years by now. Given that, we've had very few issues about this. xD But yeah I could look into the performance of serializing to prevent that... |
i must admit, i thought a few times about moving my ME with a crate already but mostly done it via ender chest with a buddy instead ... maybe the info that crates keep their inventory is spreading only very late |
I was moving my refined storage stuff around and rearranging things. I put a harddrive from refined storage into the wooden storage crate. now when I try to take things out of the crate my game crashes. I'm playing on hermitpack
