It would be cool to also see some widescreen versions of the menu backgrounds (and similar 2D assets) as well as the title screen for both games in the Vulkan renderer, since there's already a widescreen status bar.

Thanks for the suggestion but out of scope I'm afraid. PsyDoom is intentionally designed to run using just the original disc as input and I can't ship modified versions of any of the original assets for copyright reasons.
The widescreen status bar is kind of a hack that thankfully worked out - I was able to piece together several already existing sprites in order to make it look somewhat continuous. Unfortunately I can't do similar tricks with the main menu screen and other screens due to the way the assets are... The options menu CAN tile and extend but transitions would look odd if it tiles and the main menu doesn't.
