Data Science Africa Quiz Notebook

Welcome to the Data Science Africa Quiz Notebook repository! This repository contains a Jupyter notebook prepared for the Data Science Africa (DSA) 2023 Kigali Summer School, hosted by the University of Rwanda in Kigali from 8th - 10th of May 2023. The summer school aims to equip participants with essential skills in Python programming, Data Science, and Machine Learning, targeting graduate students, researchers, and professionals working with large datasets.

Introduction

This repository contains a Jupyter notebook designed to assess participants' base skills in Python programming, Data Science, and Machine Learning. The notebook includes a variety of exercises covering different aspects of these areas, which participants must complete and submit as part of their registration for the DSA 2023 Kigali Summer School.

Requirements

To complete the notebook, participants should have a basic understanding of:

  • Python programming
  • Data Science concepts and techniques
  • Machine Learning algorithms and their applications

Setup & Installation

Follow these steps to set up and run the Data Science Africa Quiz Notebook on your local machine:

  1. Clone the repository using git clone https://github.com/Briankim254/Data-Science-Africa-Quiz-notebook.git
  2. Navigate to the project directory using cd Data-Science-Africa-Quiz-notebook
  3. Create a virtual environment for the project using python3 -m venv venv
  4. Activate the virtual environment using source venv/bin/activate (for Unix-based systems) or venv\Scripts\activate (for Windows)
  5. Install the required dependencies using pip install -r requirements.txt
  6. Launch Jupyter notebook using jupyter notebook

The Jupyter notebook will open in your default web browser, and you can now access and interact with the Data Science Africa Quiz Notebook.

Usage

  1. Open the DSA_Quiz_Notebook.ipynb file in the Jupyter notebook interface
  2. Complete the exercises in the notebook, following the instructions provided
  3. Save your progress regularly to ensure you don't lose any work
  4. Once completed, export the notebook as a ZIP file
  5. Upload the ZIP file when filling out the DSA 2023 Kigali Summer School registration form

The Data Science Africa Quiz Notebook is licensed under the MIT License. This allows for open collaboration and sharing of the project while ensuring that contributors retain ownership of their work.
