This feature takes advantage of the Obsidian URI links and the on click events:

The functionality is achieved by using the above example for my Ideas Obsidian note:

<event> <name/id of node> "<URI Link>"

URI Link breaks down to:

"<Application>://vault/<name of vault>/<name of note>"

The URI links
you can grab from any of the pages easily:

Now if you name a node in mermaid (using my ideas page as an example) with an ID you can just use that ID in the click event instead of the full name of the node:

With release 0.9.21 There is a fix to mermaid.js so you can use

class A internal-link; to make A an internal link not URI so that i can say

A[Index]
    click A INDEX;
