I'd like a solution like Sonarr/Radarr that allows me to add Slack and other notification services.

I would like this feature as well, so I can build a hook into Kavita to trigger intake of those new comics, if a user isn't using folder watching. I can do a PR for Kavita once the foundation is done.

Would a webhook notification to the API not be able to achieve this same effect?

Yeah, definitely want that with Komga as well.

Adding webhooks would mean Kapowarr could run a command against the Komga API to tell it to scan the library/libraries for content.

Komga:
POST http://IP:PORT/api/v1/libraries/$ID/scan (library ID can be retrieved from GET http://IP:PORT/api/v1/libraries)
