Version 1.5 crashes instantly on 6.0.1 #70

I haven't upgraded my devices to iOS 6 yet, but it has worked fine for me in the iOS 6 simulator, and David has been running it on a 4S with iOS 6 without issue. Sometimes the download from the App Store can become corrupted. Have you tried turning off your device and turning it on again and trying the download again? Or perhaps installing the binary from iTunes? |
Just tried the above on the iPad: wiped, powered down, reinstall no luck, same behaviour (Note: devices not jailbroken). |
This must be a bug related to running on the device with iOS 6 then, but I'm curious as to why we weren't able to pick it up before shipping it. If this is the case, I'm sure you won't be the only one with the issue and we'll be able to track it down. Do you think you'd be able to try to sync your device and find/upload your crash logs? Here's a link on how to find them: http://bjango.com/help/crashlog/ Thanks! |
I can upload the crashlog directly I would hope, is a c&p not good? If you prefer it as a separate file then I'll just upload it, no worries. |

Looks like the offending line is
I don't know why that code is being triggered on a fresh install though. |
I wiped the app so theoretically there should be no incoming data but I am logged in from another system in GTalk and I am wondering if the Google servers have remembered I was logged in over ChatSecure and are still sending it messages. |
Just for completeness sake I just tried starting ChatSecure with no network: same crash. |
Looks like another user has the same crash as well (iOS 6) so it looks like On Fri, Dec 14, 2012 at 1:24 AM, arrigo notifications@github.com wrote:

This seems like a really odd if the crash report and dSYM are correct. generateReceiptResponse: is not called on launch. A XMPPManager (which handles all the XMPP calls) isn't created until you're logged in to an XMPP account. This is really puzzling there must be something wrong with the crash report or less likely the dSYM. |
I just realized that when symbolicating the crash reports from iPhone 5 / iPad 4 you should specify |
I have the same issue. Anywhere I can get the previous version from? |
Just tried on 4S 5.1.1 which also crashes. |
If its of any use +2 here.. both iPhone 5's with iOS 6.0.1 not working.. opens and closes. Tried full reinstall - No luck. |
Can you please send the crash logs? We haven't been able to reproduce it... On Dec 20, 2012, at 12:55 PM, moduk notifications@github.com wrote: If its of any use +2 here.. both iPhone 5's with iOS 6.0.1 not working.. — |

Crashing for me on: Love the app and hope I can help troubleshoot for a fix. |
Just curious, do you guys have any custom language settings? On Thu, Dec 20, 2012 at 10:27 PM, iPhpwn4 notifications@github.com wrote:

All three devices have language set to British English and region format Australia. |
Ah! I wonder if this a common thread. We made some hacks to the way On Thu, Dec 20, 2012 at 10:33 PM, iPhpwn4 notifications@github.com wrote:

No worries mate! Good luck and hit me up if you require more info or a beta test. |
My crashing phones are British English and UK region. |
Looks like language is the culprit. Just changed my 4S language from British English to English and the crash is gone. Opened to Buddy List. |
Aha! Looks like we've got a solid lead. Thanks guys! On Thu, Dec 20, 2012 at 11:35 PM, iPhpwn4 notifications@github.com wrote:

Confirmed - Changing from British English to English is the solution.. but obviously we need British English fix in the future.. |
Nice! Glad to have helped. |

My phone and iPad are British English and Switzerland region. Arrigo |
