Hey Chris, Wes, and Brent! I've been listening to Jupiter Broadcasting shows since around the time Chris flooded Lady Jupes by leaving devices in the bathroom sink. My awesome wife started my Jupiter Party membership as a Christmas present in 2022!

My son and I have been exploring NixOS. In LUP episode 568 you mentioned losing the ability for Kate to use sudo saves. We updated NixOS and Plasma, and had the same problem. We finally found a post on the NixOS Discourse that pointed us in the right direction. I don't understand the specifics yet, but it seems like kate is maybe a deprecated package name - it doesn't show up on search.nixos.org/packages for 24.05. Changing it to kdePackages.kate worked for us, and I hope it works for you!

(We went from NixOS 23.11 and Plasma 5 (kate as a package name was included in the initial config from the installer) to NixOS 24.05 and Plasma 6, so I'm not sure which of those updates actually requires this change. You may have to check other packages for the same issue including Qt5 vs Qt6. I think security.polkit.enable = true; is also needed but you already have that.)
