main use case: initialize latest known value during filling fact table.

Something like:

create table exchange_rates_history ... engine=Join(ASOF,LEFT,'currency_code');

create table events (
...
exchange_rate Decimal32(4) DEFAULT joinGet(... 'exchange_rates_history' ... )
...
);
