I used the platform a couple of weeks ago to try find a mentor and the biggest challenge I had was that mentors literally took forever to reply.

For the record am not complaining馃槃 I totally understand this is free and people give of their time but in relation to the product roadmap which I read about here wouldn't it be great if after applying for a mentorship one could schedule a call with the mentor? Perhaps on zoom or even better on the platform.

A mentor could create something like a calendly from which the mentee could choose a date and schedule the meeting

This is just a random idea but if it ever got considered I would love to work together with on implementing this feature.
Would be a great way for me to get into open source.

Hi Joel,

Thanks you for your feedback. You are absolutely right. This is one of our main weaknesses - we don't know if the mentor is active or not except when they update their availability.
We have some ideas about how to tackle this.
We are about to launch an improved request mentorship process. Instead of asking for mentorship directly via mentor channels, the mentee will ask for mentorship via the website. This way we could know if the mentor is available (if they are responding (either accept or decline) in a few days).
We also working on a new sort mechanizm so non active mentors will appear down in the list.

If you have good experience with React, we'd love to get your help in this task and another.
Please review this project. If you feel comfortable with it, please Slack me
