Yes, however it's not appearent from the current docs. |
If this is something you guys don't want to add feel free to close the issue. The idea behind it was to relieve some work off #support and to have all docs bundled in one place instead of having to go to the Discord and run a bot command to get the instructions. |
"Needs Triage" label means that the issue hasn't been looked at yet and that also means we haven't yet discussed whether we want this or not :) But since you reminded me about its existence, I personally think there's probably not much point in documenting the current process of restoring if we plan to add restore command (see #2947). And once that's in, it would be documented under |
Im personally in favour of documenting the backup/restore (When #2947 is completed...) at least we can hope users read it. |
i second adding this stuff into docs! 3 almost 4 years later and i just spent a bunch of time digging into how to do this just to wind up here! thank you Dav and Jacken |
In the meantime while this hasn't yet been added to the docs, the best source for help with backing up your instance of Red is our support server, in case you need any more help. |

Describe your requested feature
Now that [p]backup is no more, detailed instructions are needed to allow bot owner's to switch the machine they are hosting on or to load a backup for any other reason. Currently there is no clear way of doing this.
It would be nice to have the current
?backup
command in the support server as a documentation page, at least in the time until #2947 is resolved.Developer note: When this page is created, make sure to change the text in the Hosting Information page to point to the documentation page, rather than the support server.
