Apple Feedback Assistant ID: FB13441881

Reported by Stefan Fischer via email.

DESCRIBE THE BUG:
In the Photos, Videos and Audio sidebar you can import from your Photos collection. For example, you can just drag a photo from one of your albums into the timeline. Generally, this works well. However, if an asset is located on an external hard drive, then Final Cut Pro drags the wrong asset.

TO REPRODUCE:
Store some photos on an external drive. Try and import them via the Photos, Videos and Audio sidebar into a timeline.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR:
It should drag the clip you selected - but it does not.

SCREENSHOTS:
Stefan has provided a video which I've sent to Apple.

Another issue: FCP is just painfully not working together with Apple Photos. There was a time when I could drag and drop videos or screen recordings from Photos to FCP, but not anymore. There was also a time when I could choose to show in finder in photos to easily locate a file and then import it into FCP. Drag and Drop is just buggy as you can see here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kQGQVcu-M6LT_-h6doIlwUIfZTkHR-kK/view?usp=sharing

@stevef243 - Apple says:

We cannot reproduce this issue as reported. What happens when you drag to other applications or to the desktop?

Does that mean this issue can be closed, if it's not possible to drag videos anymore?

not not at all you obviously should be able to drag videos via the FCP build in browser to a timeline that’s the whole point of the implementation .Apple asked/requested to drag videos from Photos to other applications or desktop and that was my answer to it.

fact is for me there is no way to get videos from my photo library on to my Timeline via the FCP build in connection to Photos as 8 out of 10 times it will place an incorrect video on the timeline even though the correct video is playing in preview in browser.
