Future use of Compendium

Instead of ascribing particular usages of Compendium we want to put you in charge of creating and discovering usages of Compendium that are useful to you. In the near future we therefore aim to make it even easier to generate new ways of using CompendiumNG for different purposes and to share these means with others. Here is what we intend to implement over the course of 2013 to facilitate you with this (well at least we hope to implement some of the ideas below):

  • Substantially improve the collaboration features of Compendium, so that you can work with others on a set of maps simultaneously, comment on nodes or extend maps. Some of these features may come as part of a branch of Compendium developed by CogNexus (~version 1.7).
  • Enable the creation of user specified sets of nodes and make the use of 'stencil' and link templates easier. This will enable the flexible adaptation of Compendium to different usage scenarios. As a result you can more easily create an information base (IB) that is suited to your particular usage scenarios, or have changing IB templates for different usages such as dialogue mapping, creating a mind map, or something completely new, e.g. you want to create a company directory with Compendium? Or you want conduct a social network analysis? Compendium will easily be adjustable to your needs.
  • Create a central repository of templates of Compendium adaptations for different usage scenarios. This will enable you to browse, find, share and collectively develop different usages of Compendium.
  • Have multiple (infinite) links between two issues. This will allow you to model numerous ways in which nodes can be related with each other.
  • Have filters to show and hide nodes and links. This will allow you to use, for instance, to facilitate collaboration, or to engage in the analysis of connections.
