Commenting and cleanup

This release mostly focuses on cleaning up and polishing existing code.

A note

While preparing this release, I was using the environment on my laptop for CrystalSpace. After spending two hours cleaning up, commenting, and optimizing the code, I realized the code base I was working with was over a year old, stuck far in the past. The merge conflicts came. They came hard. It was an atrocity. I had the longest merge conflict I think I'd ever seen. I went from v0.1 to v1.0.4 in one fell swoop.

I salvaged what I could but almost everything was different. Therefore, the changelog is being skipped for this release.
