Quad Ball: The Game

Quad-Ball is a new addition to the sim start in 0.53b It's a game where your FPV quad skills are put to the test. In these initial 10 levels, your task is to get the ball into the goal. As you don't have any direct control of the ball you need to ram it with your quad! The levels start off very easy but get tougher as you go.

You can start Quad-Ball by clicking on the Quad-Ball icon on the pause screen, this will take you to the Quad-Ball menu page.

The options here are pretty self-explanatory - and in fact much of the documentation is available in-game using the "How to play" option. This describes the game itself, gives some hints and tips and the full list of keys available.

The most important thing to do in Quad-Ball is to keep the ball in-play. If it goes over the edge, it's lost and you'll have to start the level from the beginning again. You will notice on many levels there is a blue outline - this is a force field. Whilst you can fly through it freely, the ball will bounce off of it.

It is possible to push the ball through the forcefield though, and if you leave the ball constantly rolling against the forcefield then it's possible for it to fall through. Kepp that ball away from the edge!

You can view your record times which list your best time for each level as well as an overall time. The overall time though, is based on the best complete playthrough of all 10 levels and isn't simply each of your best times added together. If you are playing the Steam-based version of the sim, your times are automatically uploaded to an online leaderboard. In future updates, this will be available in-game, but for now the records can be seen here https://steamcommunity.com/stats/1331330/leaderboards/6235874

You can pause the game at any time by pressing Escape (which brings you back to the Quad-Ball menu) Opening the Flight Assist menu will also pause the game.

The rates and camera tilt/FOV is separate from the main sim and any changes are saved. In general, you will want a much lower tilt angle and a quite gentle setup on your quad (this is the default) as you need to hover and go slowly sometimes. The throttle and gravity multipliers are not available to modify in the game so as all players have the same conditions.
