Welcome to the GitHub repository for aki.guide. The site is built using Jekyll and hosted via GitHub Pages. You'll see the back end technical part of what makes the site run within this repository.
aki.guide is intended as a library of sorts, gathering information related to wrestling games produced by the AKI Corporation between 1996 and 2007 across various video game consoles. This information has been fairly well-preserved through the years via multiple forums and through the efforts of members of the community. The goal is to centralize this knowledge into a place where one can visit and have all the information they need. To make sure that knowledge is easily accessible, and at their fingertips, in order to "hack" these classic games however they might like. Hopefully, one day, releasing their own variation of these classic games as well for the community to enjoy.
To the end of centralizing the knowledge and information, there needs to be a way to make sure it reaches beyond the life span of any one person or web site as well. Hosting via GitHub Pages accomplishes that, as inside this repository are flat-file Markdown text documents. These documents can easily be forked from this repository, or even directly downloaded, making sure the information continues on. If aki.guide goes away, the knowledge gathered to it, is here to stay.
Each Markdown file has front matter information, containing original dates, as well as the author and original source the information is attributed to. Source URLs are also available where there isn't a concern to the safety of users. Links have also been removed from the content of posts for the same reason. The front matter also includes an unique assetid attribute. This attribute links to the related images and/or files that are associated with that particular post. This makes sure that the original images and files remain linked to the Markdown document in some fashion.
