Different sections for well known packagers, such as mp4box, bvento, castlabs, bitmovin etc.

How should this look like? We are happy to contribute on this.
We've already two articles on that, one on x264+MP4Box (http://www.dash-player.com/blog/2014/11/mpeg-dash-content-generation-using-mp4box-and-x264/), another one on our cloud-transcoding service bitcodin (http://www.bitcodin.com/blog/2015/02/create-mpeg-dash-hls-content-for-amazon-s3-and-cloudfront/). We could take some parts of them as a starting point.

Should this go to the dashif.org website, or just the dash.js wiki here on github? I can do a quick writeup for the bento4 tools with both Widevine and PlayReady as well as clear.

We have been working at this for our player lately and have compiled a guide to get dash.js compatible MPEG-DASH stream with MP4Box and ffmpeg. The guide is here https://www.radiantmediaplayer.com/working-with-mp4box.html. It covers:

  • creating keyframe aligned mp4s files with ffmpeg
  • dashing for multi-bitrate stream with MP4Box
  • dashing for multiple audio stream with MP4Box

We could contribute to the wiki or feel free to pick from it.

@wilaw : Since you initially opened that issue: I suggest we add a new item "How to create DASH content" to the Background Info section. In this page we can provide a list of useful links/resources/how tos for the different packagers. I don't think we should write own guidelines as the APIs of the underlying tools might change frequently which requires changes from our side then.

Agreed. Own guidelines are not necessary. Just point to existing sites.

A new page was added here: https://github.com/Dash-Industry-Forum/dash.js/wiki/How-to-create-DASH-manifests . We will try to collect additional resources if available.
